Top Tips for ordering your wedding invitations

A Wedding should reflect the individual personalities of the bride and groom. Every couple wants their wedding to be magical and deciding on your unique style and wedding stationery style is one of life’s most exciting tasks!

Your invitation is the first piece in your wedding day jigsaw. It’s your chance to set the mood for your celebration. Will it be traditional and formal? Or will you have lots of your own personal touches in a more casual setting? Use your wedding style, however formal or casual, as well as your budget to guide you through choosing your wedding invitations.

My problem when I’m choosing stationery is that I LOVE everything I see… there are over 500 pieces in the Made With Love Collection to be inspired by! Decide on your theme & colour scheme before you start shopping. Use Pinterest to gather inspiration and make your own mood boards. If you have your wedding theme clearly defined and know your colour scheme, this will make the whole decision making process so much easier. And remember when you are choosing your wedding stationery don't be put off by a design that isn't shown in your colours - we can custom design any range in your wedding colours. PLAN AHEAD Plan your stationery at least 5 months in advance. Pinterest is a great place to gather inspiration. Once you have decided on your wedding theme, style or colour scheme, this will make choosing your wedding stationery easier. With a style or colour scheme clearly defined in your visuals, you can start to narrow down your wedding invitations choices from our stationery gallery.

 

 

HOW MANY DO I NEED? You may be inviting 170 people but you will need far fewer invitations since you’ll be sending a single invitation per couple or per family. But be sure to order approximately five to ten spare blank invitations for last minute guests, your scrap book, postal mishaps & Parents (most parents also like to save an invitation as a keepsake). Almost 80% of our Brides needed spare invitations after they had sent theirs out. Order those extras early to ensure your ribbons are in stock, to avoid delays in fitting the design of any extras in at a later date & also avoid high re-print costs which we may have to charge for small run orders later on.

 

ORDER IN ADVANCE Allow 6wks to make your invitations. And 6wks for guests to rsvp. Invitations should be sent up to 6 months prior your wedding. Earlier for international guests to arrange travel. Timings are important, do not leave ordering your invitations until the last minute. The whole process should be enjoyable and not a race against time. Be sure to order stationery for your reception straight away if you know quantities; items such as menu’s or place cards so that we can reserve the stock in case it becomes discontinued or sells out. If you do not know exact quantities yet paying a deposit will secure your future dates & is becoming a must for Brides.

PUTTING IT IN ORDER Slip your invitation facing forward to you into the envelope and insert any extra cards behind the invitation so that the guests see the invitation as soon as they open the envelope or box (for the wow factor). Invitations should be beautiful & functional. Most Brides hand deliver their invitations (which is a great way to see the reaction of your guests when they open your beautiful invitations) But to post, normally a large letter stamp is sufficient for boxed invitation or envelope posted within the UK. We can supply jiffy bags, postal boxes at an additional cost should you require those for extra protection.

COMPILE YOUR WORDING After receiving your order we will send you a wording pack. Our email text pack includes samples of wording to help you compile the perfect invitation - traditional or informal, dress code options, ceremony only text and various ways to include or not include your in-laws. We will include a wording form for each item in your order to collect all your personal details. You can take a little time to carefully choose your wording & return forms back to us to start work on proofing your order. Please note we need your order placed in full before you send us your wording.

DOUBLE CHECK THE DETAILS After you have returned your wording forms to us, you will receive proofs of your stationery via email in a jpg or pdf format to proof read for any errors. Have several people look over the proof to make sure the names, dates and spelling are all correct. It’s very important that you carefully proof read proofs as mistakes can easily happen and proof stage is a final check to ensure that we have transferred everything correctly and that nothing is missing before your stationery goes to print. Not all items are proofed. Proofs are provided free of charge and sent normally within 4 weeks of receiving your order & wordings back.
